課程概述 |
This course is primarily for horticulture students and students from relevant fields. |
課程目標 |
Goal of the course is to deliver fundamental principles of breeding methods that used in the genetic improvement of self-pollinated, cross-pollinated and asexually reproducing horticultural crops. Based on knowledge learned from this course, students will be equipped with the ability to giving suggestion of breeding strategies for specific crops. |
課程要求 |
Techniques and applications in the development of improved cultivars are also discussed. The lecture section is an interactive learning style, so it contains group discussions and presentations lead by instructors. Breeders will be invited as guest lecturers to discuss their breeding programs. Lab section is required, because the lab work is designed to reinforce the lecture material by giving students an opportunity to observe breeding applications and their parts firsthand and to do experimental designs. |
